Working Groups

Powering of Submarine Fibre Networks

Following the success of the widely read Subsea Open Cables: A Practical Perspective on the Guidelines and Gotchas published in 2019, this working group has the objective to develop and agree a similar approach to the powering of submarine fibre networks.

Why join this Working Group?

Contribute to the development of an industry-agreed approach to the powering of submarine fibre networks, culminating in the publication of a white paper that will serve as a reference for the sector.

  • Define Standards: Help recommend and unify powering budgets, configurations, and fault recovery scenarios
  • Shape Best Practices: Contribute expertise on land power cable installation, external interference mitigation, and health and safety operations
  • Publish Industry Guidance: Be part of creating a definitive white paper on submarine fibre network powering
